Data Insights: Registers of Scotland INSPIRE Data

OVERVIEW:

INSPIRE Cadastral Parcels, also sometimes known as Registers of Scotland INSPIRE data, is a dataset maintained and produced by the Registers of Scotland to comply with the INSPIRE Directive. It is a subset of the Cadastral Map and contains the location of ownership polygons at ground level in Scotland. The polygons contained within the dataset are shapes that show the position and indicative extent of ownership of the earth’s surface for each registered property. Each cadastral parcel has a unique identifier called the inspire ID that relates to a registered title on Scotland’s Land Register.

WHAT DATASETS HAVE BEEN ADDED?
  • Registers of Scotland INSPIRE Land Registry – Ownership polygons at ground level in Scotland (Total: 1,469,498 parcels across 33 counties)
WHY HAS THIS DATA BEEN ADDED?

This data is the Scottish equivalent of the HM Land Registry polygon data which is integral to the LandHawk system. It has been added to SiteFinder to enable our users to undertake more complex analysis throughout Scotland. The ownership polygons contain the INSPIRE IDs which can then be used to purchase the relevant title deeds from Registers of Scotland.

HOW DO I PURCHASE TITLE DEEDS FOR SCOTLAND?

Title deeds for land ownership in Scotland can be purchased directly from Registers of Scotland via a convenient link within the LandHawk platform. Simply click on one of the registered parcels of land within the RoS INSPIRE polygon layer to reveal a dialogue box which includes both the INSPIRE ID and a link out to the relevant title number page for that ID. The title deed(s) can then be purchased from RoS in the usual way.

Alternatively, it is possible to purchase larger batches of title deeds from the RoS GIS team:
